ThomasJefferson: The father of the Declaration of Independence

Did you know that Thomas Jefferson went to William and Mary College? If you want to know more, come and read.Thomas Jefferson was born on April 13th, 1743 in Albemarle County, Virginia. Thomas's Dad was a planter and surveyor and his Mom was a Randolph. After college, he married Martha Wayles Skelton who was a widow at the time. He had six childern. Also he was loyal to the Colonies.

Thomas served as United States Secertary, American Phiosopher, Vice President and President. Jefferson later decided to retire and live in Monticello. He also had plans to establish the University of Virginia. The Public thought he was a good and well accomplished man but were puzzled why he didn't stop slavey since he thought it was not right for America. On Independence Day (July 4th,) 1826 he died in Monticello, his home in Virginia.

Fame

What he gained from his work is that he got the Lousiana Purchase. He decided to make Meriwether Lewis and William Clark go and venture through the west. They traveled through the Mississippi River and Rocky Mountains for example. Lewis and Clark finally went all the way to the Pacific Ocean meaning Thomas Jefferson, Meriwether Lewis and William Clark made history.

Thomas's Work

Really the purpose of Thomas' work was that he helped the United States get stronger, so really his work was making America. Later he became the first Secretary of State. That's where he handled relationships with other countries. His motaivation took place from his deep thinking and his convincing writing. Thomas Jefferson trusted and worked with John Adams. They both worked on the Declaration of Independence.
