He was b0rn in New York City in 1858. He grew up in a wealthy family in New York and went to Harvard Universtiy and studied law in Columbia. He also was a rough rider who faught at San Juan Hill in Cuba. He later died in 1919 in Oyster Bay, NY.

"Speak softly and carry a big stick" refers to Roosevelt's foreign policy. He believe to be polite to countries at first, but if they did not listen then one should become more forceful and threatening.

Theodore Roosevelt was important to American history because he helped get rid of corruption in the government and created laws for better food and medicine. He also helped oversee the Panama Canal project.




Theodore Roosevelt was born October 27, 1858. He died January 6, 1919. He was President from 1901-1909.



Theodore Roosevelt was the 26th President of the United States. He was best known for for leading the Rough Riders in a battle at San Juan Hill in Cuba. While he was president he gained the nickname The Trust Buster for breaking up large companies called monopolies.

Roosevelt had many accomplishments. He won a Noble Peace Prize for his efforts in negotiating peace between Russia and Japan. He helped to increase the government regulation and safety standards of food and medicine with the Meat Inspection Act and the Pure Food and Drug Act. And he worked on conservation by setting aside large areas of land out west for national forests and public use.
