26th President of the USATheodore Roosevelt

President's Vision

Theodore Roosevelt was a president whose vision stretched from the United States throughout the world, and for both its people and its natural resources. Theodore Roosevelt was the father of conservation. He wanted to maintain economic liberty by reducing the limits on trade and competition and bringing big businesses under stronger regulations. He also believed that the United states should move more into world politics and conserving our national land.(1) For example, he quoted "I recognize the right and duty of this generation to develop and use the natural resources of our land; but I do not recognize the right to waste them or to rob, by wasteful use, the generations that come after us."(2) Theodore Roosevelt considered him self to be a representative of all the people in the United States, including farmers, laborers, white collar workers, and businessmen.(3) He even made the National Mon to reserve the environment. Since he wanted to have America to move more into world politics he also believed that we should create a shortcut from the Atlantic ocean to the Pacific ocean, almost like connecting the world.(2) Theodore Roosevelt wanted the United States to have peace, and he even quoted "Speak softly and carry a big stick."(1) The quote means that he wants to conduct friendly negotiations with international partners, but he strongly believes that he has a stronger army so that the neighboring countries respect the United States more.
