Theodore Roosevelt was born to a wealthy family on October 27, 1858 in New York City. He suffered from asthma during his childhood. “Teedie,”as his parents called him, was home schooled until college when he went to Harvard. He then entered but then dropped out from Columbia Law school. Soon after he dropped out he became New York state assemblyman from 1882 to 1884.He lost the election of New York City Mayor in 1886. He stayed involved with the New York police, the navy, and the army until he was elected New York governor in 1898. the GOP (grand old party) nominated Theodoreto run as William Mckinley’s vice president in 1900. Theodore served a short six months befor William Mckinley was assassinated, making him President. He was elected and served as President for his first full term. Afterwards he stayed involved in politics but also went on hunting expeditions.Theodore died on January, 5 1919 due to a pulmonary embolism. His last words were "please turn out the light, James."

Ordered the Panama canal to be constructed when others were not able to finish its construction due to many deaths in the atempts.Enforced the square deal which enforced environmental conservation,consumer pretection,and control of corporations. Awarded Nobel Peace prize for stopping a war between Russia and Japan
Lasting Impact
Theodore Roosevelt was involved with the orgin of the teddy bear (see video) and enforced the square deal (see accomplishments) as well as the Panama canal still used today.
