The Warsaw Ghetto

German authorities in Warsaw closed Jewish schools, seized Jewish-owned land and belongings, recruited Jewish men into forced labor and suspended prewar Jewish institutes and establishments.

Jews were humiliated beaten, or even executed for little or illegitimate reasons. They lived their lives in constant fear.

The Warsaw Ghetto

7,000 Jews were killed during the uprising. The German authorities deported approximately 7,000 Warsaw Jews to the Treblinka killing center, where almost all were killed in the gas chambers upon arrival. Almost all of the remaining Jews, approximately 42,000, were deported by the Germans.
