The Temple of Luxor

The Luxor Temple is an Egyptian temple complex located on the east bank of the Nile River in the city of Luxor. The temple was built with Nubian Sandstone, a type of sandstone used to build monuments in Upper Egypt.

Purpose

1.It was founded in 1400 BCE2.The Temple of Luxor was known as "ipet resyt" in the Egyptian language, or the southern sanctuary.3.850 feet long, and about 213 feet across the front.4. There used to be two obelisks, but the right one is in the Concorde square in Paris, France.5. Built primarily by Amenophis about 3,500 years ago6.

There was an annual festival at the temple called the Feast of Opet. The temple was dedicated to the Theban Triad. The group consisted of Amun, his consort Mut and their son Khonsu.
