The story of Joseph

Digital Storytelling

Joseph falls under a combination of types of leaders. According to the bible he was a teacher, a hero, and a ruler. Joseph was a teacher because he taught his younger brother Benjamin to dream just like him. Joseph was classified as a hero because even though he was sold to the merchants as a slave, he made the best of everything and promised to do the best work. Joseph is a ruler because one of his key learnings in leadership is the improtance of ethics. Joseph leads by his morals that he learned from his father Jacob and no matter what situation he may be in, the goodness of his character never changes. Genesis 39:4 And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him: and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had put into his hand. Genesis 39:5 And it came to pass from the time that he made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, that the Lord blessed the Egyptian's house for Jospehs' sake: and the blessing of the Lord was upon all that he had in the house, and in the field.

Two negative leader traits that have interferred with Joseph's inability to lead are decisiveness and need for achievement. Genesis 39:7 And it came to pass after these things, that his master's wife cast her eyes upon Joseph; and she said, Lie with me. Genesis 39:8 But he refused, and said unti his master's wife, behold, my master wotteth not what is with me in the house, and he hath committed all that he hath to my hand. Joseph quickly made a decision to not Lie with the master's wife because the master trusted Joseph and given him responsibility to lead his whole household.

The Story about ...

Why ?

Two positive leader traits Joseph has are intelligence and self confidence. Genesis 40:8 And they said unti him, we have dreamed a dream, and there is no interpreter of it. And Joseph said unto them, do not interpretations belong to God? Tell me them and I pray for you. Not only was Joseph intelligent enough to pray for them, but his was confident in himself and in God that Pharaoh's officers dream would come true.

Facts

From the study of Joseph I have learned that no matter what situation you are in or going through, you can always come out on top as a leader. People may not recognize you as a leader through the process, but once you prove them wrong they will then praise you. I have also learned that to become a leader is never an easy process. There are many trials you have to go through and over come to be labled as a leader.
