What do you want to know? This might be based on an observation you have made or a particular topic that instrests you. Your question needs to e about something you can measure and will typically start with words such as what, when, where, how, or why.

The Scientific Method
?
Step 1: Purpose/Question
Step 2: Research
Step 3: Hypothesis
Find out as much as you can! Gather information by using the internet, books, and by talking with teachers!
Step 6: Conclusion
Create a step by step procedure and conduct an experiment that tests your hypothesis. Repeat the experiment a number of times to ensure your original results are valid.
What is it?
The scientific method is a way to ask and answer scientific questions by making observations and doing experiments! There are six steps in the scientific method: purpose/question, research, hypothesis, experiment, analysis, and conclusion.
Using your background research and your current knowledge, make an educational guess that answers your question.Your hypothesis should be a simple statement that expresses what you think will happen.
Step 4: Experiment
Step 5: Analysis
Record what happened during the experiment. This is also called 'data'.
Review the data and see if your hypothesis was correct. It's not necessarily a 'bad thing' if your hypothesis was not correct because you still discovered something!
