The Rubik's Cube was never meant to be a toy. It was originaly supposed to be a tool to help teach 3 dimentional geometry because Erno Rubik was a teacher in Hungary. At one point, it was called the Magic Cube.It was officially published as the Rubik's Cube in 1980.
