THE ROARIN' TWENTIES
Langston Hughes - black poet who was a prominent part of the Harlem Renaissance
The 1920's were a rustling, bustling time of great change in the way Americans interacted with each other, and were "entertained". Technology allowed devices like the radio to exist, dance clubs and cinemas were part of a growing nightlife culture forming, fashion became more important, and news was being presented in easier to swallow formats. Meanwhile, a backlash against this "new era" was forming, vowing to protect the values of older generations.
The KKK, or Ku Klux Klan, was a very important group during this time period
