Main Events:- Ponyboy, Johnny and Darry went to the drive-in movie and got into fight with the Socs at that night.- They seeked Darry for help because Johnny killed Bob and he told them to go to a church at Windrixville.- There, they stayed for 5 days until one day, the church was on fire and saved the children inside.- They then became "hereos", but Johnny broke his back and was in a really bad condition.- The gang had a rumble with the Socs but Johnny and Darry died.
PLOT
"You take up for you buddies, no matter what they do. When you‘re a gang, you stick up for the members. If you don‘t stick up for them, stick together, make like brothers, it isn‘t a gang any more. It‘s a pack. A snarling, distrustful, bickering pack like the Socs." (Pg.24)
QUOTE
I would recommend this book to people around the ages of 12-16, and those who likes to read books that involves violence, friendship, ' loyalty.
The Outsiders is a book that contains violence. The violence in the novel is so crazy that a teen can't walk home alone without the person being in fear. Ponyboy, the protagonist, dislikes the violence and bullying in the story. So he thinks having a fight called a "rumble" is the solution to their conflict with the rival gang.
