1450-1750
They traded wool and cloth. Land rich/ capital poor, taxes came from exports Manufacture and commerce along with their military were main sources of wealth and power. The Spanish stole gold from the Aztecs.
Sultan was supreme leader: local govs could sometimes input: wealth rank had to be earned: divided into vilayets with a governor, vassal states paid taxes ro Sultan and contributed to military
Political
Until the middle of the 2nd century the empire had a Christian majority, under rule of Muslim minority. Boys were taken and raised as Muslim.
There were Palace Schools that were used to "eliminate unfit potential heirs"Medrese allowed poor children to move two higher social levels. The Ottoman's were more wepon focused (artillery, armorers corps and bombardiers) as opposed to the French who were more man power based.
