The Ocean Across the Lane by: Neil Gaiman is a book about a boy (narrator) who travels through time to learn about his past. Along the way, he encounters obstacles like Ursula Monkton, the monster known as the caretaker. The story gains an intensity when he needs to overcome emotional and physical obstacles. The author uses foreshadowing, imagery and perspective to lure in onto the journey.
