LOOSE ENDS: There were multiple parts of the crime that appeared odd to investigators, including a lengthy 2 1/2 page ransom note. The note was written after the murder and there was never an intent to kidnap the girl. The case was always murder staged to look like a botched kidnapping.
WRONG SUSPECT: There appeared to be a major break in the case when teacher John Mark Karr confessed.A subsequent investigation found Karr could not have committed the crime.
EARLY MISTAKES: Police officers should have shut down the crime scene immediately, then take statements from JonBenets parents. Since the crime happened on Christmas day there were fewer people available on scene.Create a "Holiday Plan Policy."
