[2015] Janice Yim (Z_2015 6th): The Movement of Earth, Sun, Moon- Seasons - Day/Night

The Movement ofEarth, Sun, and Moon-SeasonsDay/Night

The Movement of EarthThere are two major movements of the Earth. It is the rotation and revolution of the earth. The rotation of the earth is when Earth spins on its invisible axis. The revolution of the earth is when Earth revolves, or moves around the sun.

The Movement of the SunThe sun actually doesn't move. It just looks like it is. The rotation and revolution of the Earth, make the sun look like it is moving. For example, since the Earth is tilted at an angle, the sun would strike the place where it is closer to the sun.

The Movement of the MoonThe moon orbits around the earth. The moon's orbit is an ellipse. Because of the moon's orbit, and the earth's rotation we see the moon differently sometimes. We call these the different phases of the moon.

SeasonsSeasons are caused by the tilt of the earth in its axis. When the earth's axis is tilted torward the sun, it'd summer for that hemisphere and winter for the opposite hemisphere because in that place the earth would be tilted away from the sun. The seasons are winter, spring, summer and fall.

Day and NightDay and night is caused by the rotation of the earth. As it rotates, the places where the earth is faced torward the sun woulf be experiencing day. The places where the earth is turned away from the sun would be experiencing night. The earth rotates one time fully in 24 hours.
