The Missouri Compromise

The Missouri Compromise took place in 1820 all the way to 1850.It may have been one of the things leading to the Civil War.

The Missouri Compromise

Before the Missouri Compromise there were 11 free states and 11 slave states.Each the Confiderates and the Union wanted Missouri on their side because they wanted more senante seats.

Henry Clay

Henry Clay was one of the who came up of the Missouri Compromise along with James Monroe.

Henry Clay thought that Maine should be a Union state and that Missouri would be part of the Conferdeacy.

Since Henry Clay knew that Maine had applied to be a state , he came up with a compromise that solved a huge problem for the United States.He thought of putting Maine as a free state and Missouri as a slave state.

During the compromise timethe main area was The United States. The compromise happenedbecause the North wanted to end slavery and to do that they needed more senate seats so they wanted Missouri to be a free state.

The people who were involved were Henry Clayand James Monroe.The compromise lasted for thirty years from 1820 to 1850.

The biggest law made after the Missouri Compromise was that slavery was not allowed north of the Missouri Compromise Line. The only state above the Missouri Compromise Line was Missouri. That was the main law that was passed after the Missouri Compromise.
