The Middle Passage

A bunch died from disease and starvation people in the colonial port cities could smell the slave ships arriving before they could see them. It took 3 to 4 months and they mostly layed in chains on the floor during it.

Sea voyage that brought African Americans to North America. They traded rum, cloth and other goods for africans. 300 to 400 slaves were crammed into low cargo spaces with no standing room. They were forced to lay side by side.

In 1788 a law was passed, which fixed the number of slaves in a proportion sized ship. It was still appalling though. Men were given space up to 6 feet by 1 foot 4 inches. Women were given up to 5 feet by 1 foot 4inches.

Trade between Europe, Africa and the americas. Finished goods went from Europe to Africa. Slaves went from Africa to America. Raw materials went from Americas to Europe.
