Some Holidays In Mexico

The Day of The Dead (aka All Saints Day) is a Mexican holiday observed throughout Mexico and around the world in other cultures. The holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died

The culture of Mexico evolved quickly during the 19th and 20th centuries. In many ways, contemporary life in its cities has become similar to that in neighboring United States and Europe. While most Mexican villagers follow the older way of life more so than the city dwellers.

The Day of The Dead

One of the primary differences between Mexican fashion and that of the United States regards modesty. Most Mexican people who live inland do not wear short shorts. Even modest shorts or skirts that almost reach the knee can be too revealing to wear inside a cathedral. Likewise, semi-transparent shirts and skinny-strap tank tops are not common in Mexico's smaller towns and the more conservative southern states of Oaxaca and Chiapas.

Cinco de Mayo is a celebration held on May 5. It is celebrated in the United States and in Mexico, primarily in the state of Puebla, where the holiday is called El Día de la Batalla de Puebla (English: The Day of the Battle of Puebla). Mexican Americans also often see the day as a source of pride, one way they can honor their ethnicity is to celebrate this day.The date is observed to commemorate the Mexican army's unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle ofPuebla on May 5, 1862, under the leadership of General Ignacio Zaragoza Seguín. In the United States, Cinco de Mayo is sometimes mistaken to be Mexico's Independence Day the most important national holiday in Mexico which is celebrated on September 16.
