The Life of Collin McKinney
1766-Collin McKinney was born in Hunterdon County, New Jersey.
1780-Collin McKinney moved with his family to Kentucky.
1793-Collin served in the militia.
1804-Amy Moore,Collin's wife died.
1805-Collin married Betsy Leak Coleman.
1836-Collin was elected delegate to a meeting at Washington on the Brazos where he signed the Texas Declaration of Independence.
1844- Collin acted as a guide to bring families to Texas.
1845-He settled with his family in Van Alstyne, Texas.
1846-Our county was named Collin County.
1848-Our city was named McKinney in Collin McKinney's honor.
1861-Collin McKinney died on September 8 at the age of 95.
