The Life of a Slave

The Trans-Atlantic slave trade started in Europe, then went to Africa, and to the New World.

Africans being taken away from their homelands

Slave ships were packed full of captured Africans to ensure maximum profits for the ones selling the slaves at auction.

Slaves had to work long hours in the field.

Often overlooked are free African Americans, who managed to escape or were lucky enough to be granted their freedom
