Mona Lisa is da Vinci’s most well known painting.The painting was a privately commissioned work and was completed sometime between 1505 and 1507. . For da Vinci, the "Mona Lisa" was forever a work in progress, as it was his attempt at perfection. The painting was never delivered to its commissioner; da Vinci kept it with him until the end of his life. Today, the "Mona Lisa" hangs in the Louvre Museum in Paris, France, secured behind bulletproof glass, and is regarded as a priceless national treasure.

Leonardo Da Vinci

Leonardo da Vinci was born on April 15, 1452, in Vinci, Italy. At the age of 14, da Vinci began apprenticing with the artist Verrocchio. For six years, he learned a wide breadth of technical skills, including metalworking, leather arts, carpentry, drawing and sculpting. By the age of 20, he had qualified as a master artist in the Guild of Saint Luke and established his own workshop.

ART TERMDécollage - The tearing away of parts of posters or other images which were adhered to each other in layers, so that portions of the underlayers contribute to the final image. This is not to be confused with collage as it's the opposite effect.

He was born in Austria but moved to New York City to pursue his passion for his artwork. Leon spent countless days sketching scenes of city life and landmarks and creating copperplate etchings. He also works with pastels, paints and linocuts. A lot of his artwork or New York is cherished as many of the landmarks he drew have largely disappeared. Dolice’s works are in a number of museums and private collections, including those of The Museum of the City of New York, The New York Public Library, The New York Historical Society and many more.
