Knowledge behind book

The War- From 1933-1973, Afghanistan was ruled by King Zahir Shah. When the king was on vacation his cousin, Mohammad Daoud Khan, former prime minister, seized power. This was a frightening time for the people of Kabul who heard rioting and shooting in the streets. Part of the reason Amir and baba left Afghanistan and fled to America was because the United States was among the countries that supported the resistance, because of its own anti-Soviet policies.
