The Human Skull:Home Of The Brain

The skull was first used as a symbol of death during the Bubonic plague

The mandiible is the only moving piece of the skull

The sphenoid is the "keysotone" of the cranium; it touches all the other cranial bones

The skull is made up of 22 bones; 8 cranial bones and 14 facial bones. The shape of these bones determine our facial features and distinguish us from every other face on earth. The skull is the protection for the brain, eyes, tongue, and nasal cavity, which makes up most of our sensory organs.

A cranial cap, seen above, is created during an autopsy for brain access

Following the Russian occupation of Berlin during WWII there was a rumor that Russian dictator Josef Stalin had Adolf Hitler's cranial cap removed and he used it as an ashtray.
