The Hobbit

BiographyBilbo Baggins was a Hobbit of the Shire who later in the story became a great adventurer of Middle Earth. Even though most Hobbits preferred the slow moving life at the Shire, Bilbo’s need for adventure was provoked when a wizard and thirteen dwarves asked him to accompany them on a quest. As a young child, Bilbo had an adventurous spirit but once he grew up Bilbo was in no such mood. Bilbo thought that leaving the Shire was a dangerous and unwise task. Once Gandalf arrived at Bag End with the thirteen Dwarves, he convinced Bilbo to join Thorin and the company on the quest of Erebor. So it was desided that Bilbo joined Thorin and Company as "the Burglar."

Bilbo Baggins: The epic hero

“What have I got in my pocket?" he said aloud. He was talking to himself, but Gollum thought it was a riddle, and he was frightfully upset "Not fair! not fair!" he hissed. "It isn't fair, my precious, is it, to ask us what it's got in it's nassty little pocketsess?” ― J.R.R. Tolkien, The HobbitA hero is a person of great strength, courage and loyalty who fights evil to defend the lives of the innocent. However, the word “hero” takes an entirely different toll in J.R.R. Tolkien’s book The Hobbit, esspecially for Bilbo Baggins. At first, Bilbo is a everyday average Hobbit than a hero. What makes Bilbo a hero is his Intelligent, cunning, quick thinking, courage and his loyalty to his friends.

Journal entryDear journal,Today, Thorin has died. Right before he passed away he apologized for being so rude to me. Thorin told me that he felt very lucky and that he enjoyed his time on the journey with me. Thorin died from terrible wounds that he received during The Battle of the five Armies. Out of the 12 dwarves that started this journey only two passed away. Fili and Kili were those two, Thorin’s nephew’s died trying to protect them. I highly respect them for that. As I write this I am preparing to head home. This has been quite the journey.
