The westward expansion started
People found gold in California, a U.S. territory, and rushed to find some and get rich.
Due to the Gold Rush, California territory had enogh people to become a state.
The Kingdom of Hawii, better known as Hawii, was admitted as a state a few moths apart from Alaska. They were both territories. Hawii wanted to be a state.
A U.S. president bought Alaska from Russia.
People wanted more room in the U.S., so they moved out west.
