Local Cultures: The Corner Store 1900In the 1900's local corner stores were the big hit. People loved the shopping experience at the corner stores but choice was limited.

Mass modernization culture – Department store: 1900 - 1940In the 1940's retail moved up from local corner stores to department stores and general merchants.

Consolidation culture – Big Box stores: 1970 - 1990From the 70's to the 90's value players, club stores and category killers drove a lot of local merchants out of buisness.

Digital culture – E-commerce: 1990 - 2013Digital culture also known as the Amazon era is when shopping online has been intruduced.
