The Harz

The animal species in the spruce forests have perfectly adapted to the living conditions . Grouse or boreal owl , the peregrine falcon and the ring ouzel, tree creepers, the crested tit, siskins or even the still endangered pygmy owl are found .Numerous large butterfly species have found a home, among them the Alpine emerald dragonfly and the endangered moorland hawker can be found .The Eurasian lynx has been released very successfully since 2000. Other typical mammals are red deer, mufflon, roe deer and wild boar.
