The Gupta Empire

The Iron Pillar of Delhi is is a pillar carved with inscriptions written in Gupta Period Sanskrit of important dates. This pillar is an example of the golden age of the Gupta empire and the architectural advancements made. This pillar is composed of a variety of rust resistant metals and still stands to this day.

The Gupta Empire

Vishnu Temple is a great example of early Gupta architecture. The style and organization of the structure was the method for the decoration of many Hindu temples seen around India at the time.

This coins depicts the Queen and King Chandragupta I, and their son Samudragupta. Many coins similar to this one were found with othe Gupta royalty imprinted on them.

Gupta terracotta relief sculptures are typical artwork found from the empire. This one depicts Buddha.
