The Fragile EnvironmentOf Antarctica
Ice MeltingHigher temperatures as a result of global warming causes ice to melt. Antarctica is covered in ice that is 1.6km thick. Already this ice is melting at an alarming rate.
Greenhouse effect on AntarcticaRise in the temperature of the Earth is due to higher concentrations of greenhouse gases. Even if greenhouse gases are stabilised today the temperature of the Earth will continue to rise.
Sea Level Rises100 million people live within 1m of sea level. Sea levels are predicted to rise about by 60 to 80 metres if all Antarctic ice melts.
