Effects of the oil spillThe oil spill killed lots of animals. It killed about 250 000 seabirds, 2800 sea otters, 300 harbour seals, 247 bald eagles, 22 killer whales and billions of fishes. People estimate shorline habitats such as mussel beds will take about 30 years to recover.

Cleaning up the oil spillIt took 4.3 billion dollars to clean the oil spill. The cleanup used about 10 000 workers, 1000 boats and 100 aeroplanes and helicopters. The oil spill was the largest single oil spill. In 1992 the clean up was called off.
