What is it?The Endocrine system is the system which transmits information from one cell, or organ, to another. This system is made up of endocrine glands, which secrete chemicals called hormones. The hormones travel in the blood plasma from the gland where they were made to their target tissue (the tissue that they affect)
The Endocrine System
Adrenaline is secreted by the adrenal glands, which lie just above the kidneys, in responses to excitement, danger or stress. It has a number of target organs and tissues, including the sino-atrial node in the heart and the muscles in the iris of the eye.Adrenaline birngs about changes that prepare the body for vigorous activity.
Adrenal Glands
The pancreas is unusal for a gand because parts of it function as an exocrine gland, while other parts function as an endocrine gland. The exocrine function is the secretion of pancreatic juice, which flows along the pancreatic duct into the duodenum. The exocrine funtion is the secretion of insulin and glucagon from the islets of Langerhans into the blood.
Pancreas
The liver is an exocrine gland which secretes bile which is the stored in the gall bladder.
