The element of uranium

Its melting point is 1,132.3°C (2,070.1°F) and its boiling point is about 3,818°C (6,904°F)

Uranium has an atomic number of 92. it also as an atomic mass of about 238.0

Boiling/Melting Point

German chemist Martin Klaproth (1743-1817)During the late 1780s, Klaproth was studying a common and well-known ore called pitchblende. At the time, scientists thought that pitchblende was an ore of iron and zinc . During his research, however, Klaproth found that a small portion of the ore did not behave the way iron or zinc would be expected to behave. He concluded that he had found a new element and suggested the name uranium for the element. Uranium has been used for things such as bombs and transporting other radioactive substances. It can also be used for things like colored glass nut not so much now-a-days.

History Of the Element

The Element of Uranium

Element CatagoryGroup and Proton/Electron/neutron number

Uranium is in the number group of three and the element catagory of being a metal.Protons-92Electrons-92Neutrons-146

Physical- Uranium is a silvery, shiny metal that is both ductile and malleableChemical- Uranium is a relatively reactive element. It combines with nonmetals such as oxygen, sulfur, chlorine, fluorine, phosphorus, and bromine. Because of the uneven number of neutrons to protons uranium is a radioactive element.

Fun Facts

Physical/ Chemical Properties

How is it Used?

-Uranium is weakly radioactive because all its isotopes are unstable -Its density is about 70% higher than that of lead -The major application of uranium in the military sector is in high-density penetrators -Depleted uranium is also used as a shielding material in some containers used to store and transport radioactive materials -The most common isotopes of uranium are uranium-238

Uranium has been used for things such as bombs and transporting other radioactive substances. It can also be used for things like colored glass nut not so much now-a-days.Uranium can be used for nuclear power generation. it is often used as ballast in airplanes and boats
