The effect of the Industrial revolution

The Postive Side of Things.

I argue that the Industrial Revolution has had a positive effect on England, and will continue to. I believe that it had a positive effect because of a variety of reasons. The combination of these long and short term effects that are positive far outweigh those that are negative. The only negative effects that the Industrial Revolution has had on England are short term and will have no effect on society in the future. Though these issues may have a very negative effect right now, but I know that the positive effects that are being reaped will be worth the negatives. The first reason that I believe that the Industrial Revolution will have a positive effect on England is the mass production that has taken place. There are more clothes produced at a much higher rate than ever before, increasing the economy for England and helping with trade. With mass production comes a variety of clothes for that public to buy that, in a sense, actually boosts the standard of living for England. This mass production also has greatly contributed to better transportation in the sense that more steel was made, making more rails to be used for transportation by locomotive. Another reason why the Industrial Revolution has had a positive effect on England is because of social aspects that are being improved. It is giving people something to be interested in and to be excited about, things that grab the peoples’ interest. Also, the social aspect of life was boosted because if you can afford certain clothes you will buy them, which plays a role in the social classes. Also, if someone wants to see a distant family member or a friend, they can use the new forms of transportation to see them more frequently or at all, if the person can afford it. The third reason that I have to prove that the Industrial Revolution had a positive effect on England is because there were many new inventions that interest people and are making life. John Kay, one of our time’s best inventors, has invented a flying shuttle. This invention is the talk of the town and the interest of everyone right now. Henry Bessemer developed a process to improve steel production. Now railroads for transportation can be made and large buildings can now be built for around the countries to show our prestige. Then you have Thomas Newcomen and James Watt improved that old steam engine to work faster and to be made with less material, which improves factory production rates and faster steam boats for transportation. All in all, by seeing the effects that this Industrial Revolution has had on England, it makes it undeniable that these short term negative issues that are going on here with the children and the lower standard of living, are not worth comparing to what is to come. The new ways of doing things will continue to improve, along with the standard of living of the people of England. Things will change and become less brutal but you have to go through the difficult times to reap the rewards of the future. It is necessary to start out like this because with trial and error, we, the nations of England, will become supreme to the world in our standard of living, trade and new inventions.

There are bad and goods to the Industrial Revolution. I choose to do the negative. Child labor, health factors, and women are some of the reason why it is bad. Child labor is bad because they got little bit pay and were treated horrible, if they got there arm cut of the owner of the factors didn’t care they just hired someone new, same thing if they died. If the kids were late to work they were be beat them, use word to abuse them, and not care about for their safety. One of the common punishments would be to tie a heavy weight the kids neck, and have the kids walk up and down the side of the factory show they could be an example the other kids what not to do. This could last up to an hour. Weighting could lead to the kids back and/or neck hurting a lot. The kids had to work up to 16 hours someday and 6 days a week. Health factor in the Industrial Revolution were even worse than the child labor. There was a lot of disease in the 1831-1832. In that time period 7000 people died of a lot of different from small pox to typniod, to typhus to cholera. Tuberculosis killed the most of people in the time period. Women had less infuse in the Industrial Revolution then child labor and the health. The working environment was often not clean and dangerous. The women didn’t really have an education because of the work demands. The home was dirty and kids couldn’t be taken care of because the moms were at the factories. The wages of the women were lower than the men because they took the role as supervisory.
