In the diagram above it shows how the red and the blue veins move through our body. The red is a arterie that carry's oxygen and nutrients away from your heart, to your body's tissues. The blue vein takes oxygen-poor blood back to the heart.

The Circulatory System
A capillary is an extremely small blood vessel located within the tissues of the body, that transports blood from arteries to veins. Capillaries are so small that red blood cells can only travel through them in single file. Oxygen, carbon dioxide, nutrients and wastes are exchanged through the thin walls of the capillaries.
The circulatory system moves blood around the body, as well as hormones. Hormones are the signals for chemical reactions, and withoutout the chemical reactions caused by hormones your homeostasis would be greatly afftected. One example of this is accelerated hair growth and acne.
Why The Circulatory System Is Important
The blood vessels are the part of the circulatory system that transports blood throughout the body. There are three major types of blood vessels: the arteries, which carry the blood away from the heart; the capillaries exchanges water and chemicals between the blood and the tissues; and the veins, which carry blood from the capillaries back toward the heart.
