The Bombing of Hiroshima

The Bombing of Hiroshima

On August 6, 1945, the first Atomic Bomb was used on Hiroshima. Japanese civilians had no idea what is was and neither did Japan itself for a certain period of time. Many residents came up with explanations like, a plane dropped oil over the city and then dropped a bomb to explain how all the fires started, another one was the idea that gun-powder had been sprinkled on the city so when it touched the power lines they blew up and it wasn't until the US told Japan what had happenned that people understood what was going on.

Doctors knew that there was a new sickness because people that were in fairly good condition were randomly dying.

The radiation sickness would cause your white blood cell count to drop significantly which caused cuts to take weeks even months to heal which left people prone to infections that killed many people.

Thousands of people died, were missing or were injured. It was reported that 78,150 died, 13,983 were missing and 37,425 were injured. Everyone knew those statistics were fake but the US government accepted them as legit. Some of the luckier ones that, "Hiroshima", covers are: Miss Toshinki Sasaki, Dr. Masakazu Fujii, Mrs. hatsuyo Nakamura, Father Wilhelm Kleinsorge, Dr. Terufumi Sasaki, and Mr. Kiyoshi Tanimoto. They suffered mild radiation sickness, some broken bones and mild burns. This may seem incredibly painful but as they try and survive after the bomb and help others, you find out they are the lucky ones.
