The Biography of William Shakespeare

William Shakespeare was born in Stratford-upon-Avon and was baptized on April 26, 1564 at the Holy Trinity Church. His birthdate is still unsure but most people belive that he was born around April 23, 1564. Shakespeare was an English poet, actor and playwright and is now thought of as the greatest writer of the English language and also the national poet of England. He was brought up by his parents, John Shakespeare and Mary Arden and was educated at King's New School. He did not attend university but married Anne Hathaway who was 26 years old,when he was at the age of 18. Six months later, Anne had a daughter named Susanna and she was baptized on May 26, 1583. They also had twins, Judith and Hamnet who were baptised on February 2, 1585. Shakespeare died on April 23, 1616 and his wife died in 1623 at the age of 67.

One of his accomplishments was that he wrote 37 plays and a number of poems in his 52 years. The queen of England was his biggest supporter and fan which made him even more popular and looked up to. Another accomplishment was that he wrote about many different types of subjects and his plays are still very popular to this day. He has also influenced many different styles of writer and poets.

Lasting Impact

The lasting impact of Willam Shakespeare was huge. He made many new words in the English language and have impacted a large amount of writers and poets. Some of the words that he created are still being used today. For example, the word swagger is still used today, however it has been shortened to swag which has an altered meaning. Until this day, students still study a lot of Shakespeares work because they include many morals and lessons to learn.
