The Aztec Empire flourished between c. 1345 and 1521 CE and, at its greatest extent, covered most of northern Mesoamerica.The Aztec state is actually the most well documented Mesoamerican civilization with sources including archaeology.

The Toltec civilization flourished in central Mexico between the 10th and mid-12th centuries CE. Continuing the Mesoamerican heritage left to them by the earlier Olmec, Teotihuacano, Maya and others.Most information on the Toltec comes from Aztec and Post-colonial texts documenting earlier oral traditions

Teotihuacan was one of the most remarkable cities of the ancient world. Today it's located 48km/30mi NE of Mexico City, and considered to be one of the world's great archaeological sites. 150 BC and 750 AD


The ancient Olmec civilization is believed to have been centred around the southern Gulf Coast of Mexico area (today the states of Veracruz and Tabasco) The Olmec culture developed in the centuries before 1200BC (BCE), and declined around 400BC.
