This is a map symbolizing Santiago's Journey.

World

A recurring dream troubles Santiago, a young and adventurous shepherd. He has the dream every time he sleeps under a sycamore tree that grows out of the ruins of a church. During the dream, a child tells him to seek treasure at the foot of the Egyptian pyramids. Santiago consults a gypsy woman to interpret the dream, and to his surprise she tells him to go to Egypt. A strange, magical old man named Melchizedek, who claims to be the King of Salem, echoes the gypsy’s advice and tells Santiago that it is his Personal Legend to journey to the pyramids. During his journey, he faces many life changing events which help him better understand the language of the world.

Quote #2"When someone makes a decision, he is really diving into a strong current that will carry him to places he had never dreamed of when he first made the decision." Santiago believes that all decisions made can influence the events that take place in life.

Quote #1"There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: the fear of failure." Santiago ventures in search of a treasure, the task is outside of his comfort zone which makes him question his ability to fulfill his quest.

Quote #3“When each day is the same as the next, it’s because people fail to recognize the good things that happen in their lives every day that the sun rises."

In the beginning of his journey, Santiago is robbed and forced to work to make money to embark on his journey. He is able to realize how thankful he is for what he does have.

This picture represents the date trees. I feel that the date trees symbolize his reward for roaming the desert."God made the desert so man could appreciate the date trees."

Santiago discovers the language of the world on his journey for treasure, he realizes that that too is also a treasure in itself.
