4.Throughout the book, Junior feels like he lives in two worlds and thus the title of the books is befitting. Junior feels like a “part-time Indian” – he acts ‘Indian’ when at home on the reservation and acts ‘white’ when he is at his new school

1The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian" by Sherman Alexie, is about a boy called Arnold Spirit aka Junior. Junior is a budding cartoonist growing up on the Spokane Indian reservation. Born with a variety of medical problems, he is picked on by everyone but his best friend Rowdy. Determined to receive a good education, Junior leaves the ‘rez’ (reservation) to attend an all-white school in the neighbouring farm town where the only other Indian is the school mascot.

2. Junior keeps his hopes up and perseveres. Does no censor his journalHe writes and draws satirical cartoons in which he conveys his repressed thoughts on friendship, poverty, racism, alcoholism and sexuality.

5.“Life is a constant struggle between being an individual and being a member of the community.” struggles with his identity because he feels as though he is betraying his people by moving away from the community.conflicted and torn between leaving his family and his tribe behind and finding hope

6.His medical condition had left with him with a speech impediment so Junior has difficulty communicating with peoplewith a pen in his hand he finds a sense of being ‘important’. He can at least express what it's like living his life. For example, he describes on one page how it ‘sucks to be poor’, and on the next sketches portraits of his parents as they might have been if someone had paid attention to their dreams.
