Gender Rolls:Woman--care for children-keep house clean-clean cloths-cook all meals-keep objects organizedMan--work to earn money for the family

Conformity: the act of matching attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors to group norms-This was what the 50's was all about.Everyone wanted to be the same, act the same, and have the same stuff.

Consumerism:a social and economic order that encourages the purchase of goods and services in ever-greater amounts-The 1950's is when the consumerism started in America.

Resurgence of religion:during the 1950's,after the war was over and since there was more time to be spent doing other things, people, mostly in families, started going to church on a regular basis again.

Suburbs: a residential area or a mixed use areawhich developed a middle class during the 1950's

Baby Boom:a period marked with increased birth ratewhich occurred after the war in the 1950's

Truman/ Eisenhower:Harry and Ike had a like-hate relationship in sometime that they got along and met with each other to discuss politiocal issues. While sometimes they would not talk for a wile because they hated each other.
