Ostend Manifesto

Unauthorized military expedition into a foreign country to create or support a revolution, actions of adventurers who tried to take control of various Caribbean, Mexican, and Central-American territories by force of arms. The three most prominent filibusters of that era were Narciso López and John Quitman in Cuba and William Walker in Nicaragua. The way they contribute to the expansionism is by disobeying any real order to not cause anymore war in order to gain more land, by conquering other peices of land.

David Wilmot helped make the new mexican land (gotten after the Mexican-American war of 1846-48) be free of slavery with the Wilmot Proviso.

Commodore Matthew C. Perry was a Commodore of the United States Navy and commanded a number of ships. He served in several wars, such as Mexican–American War and the War of 1812.
