Inflammation of the tendon.Tendons are the fibrous attachments of the muscles to the bones. Common areas for tendonitis include the shoulder, elbow, knee, ankle, wrist, and hand.
Pain and tenderness along a tendon, pain is worse with movement or activity, redness of the area over the tendon when there is tenosynovitis

Description
Inflammation can usually happen when there is overuse or over stretching of the tendon, trauma, infection, or inflammatory diseases. It can cause the sheath of the tendon to become inflamed also causing tenosynovitis.

Treatment
A physical exam will be performed. Rarely, an MRI may be done identify damage.
Rest, immobilization, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications such as ibuprofen (Motrin/Advil), naproxen (Aleve), acetaminophen (Tylenol), physical therapy, or steroid injections. Antibiotics if there is an infection
