It was an American biologist and geneticist. Renewal of genetics. Author of remarkable studies about the action of X-rays as producers of mutation action of radiation on cells; for this work he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1946.

Telomeres are the ends of chromosomes. They are non-coding regions of highly repetitive DNA whose primary function is the structural stability of chromosomes in eukaryotes
