I am William TecumsehSherman
I was a union general. An ohio born graduate of West Point, he fought in the mexican war, worked as a banker and military school superintendent, and rejoined the army when war began. I led troops at the disastrous battle of bull run. At one point early in the war, he lost his command and even considered suicide.
In March 1862, I received command of the 5th Division, Army of the Tennessee, and fought bravely at shiloh, Tennesse. He served with grant in the battles leading u to the capture of Vicksburg, Mississippi. He directed the attack that led to the city's surrender. In 1864, I succeeded Grant as commander of the western forces.
ACCOMPLISHMENTSAfter a summer of long sieges and bitter fighting, Sherman's forces captured Atlanta.
