End of WW1!
Automobiles and the Mofel T Ford are new technology during the Roaring Twenties. They are study, safe, and affordable cards that made travel much easier!Airplanes, radios, and movies, new appliances, electric irons, and washing machines were also new inventions.
Prohibition outlawed the production and distribution of alcohol. This was intended to control the immigrant population. The law was widely ignored and speakeasies and bootleg liquor gave rise to crime. The amendment was repealed in the early 1930s.
After the civil war, African-Americans searched for a safe place to explore their new identities as free men and women. They found it in Harlem. Click here to see how this New York neighborhood became home to some of the best and brightest minds of the 20th century.
African Americans migrated from southern rural to northern urban areas. Jim Crow Laws and lynchings led them north. They brough their culture with them. Writers, artists, and musicians celebrated the African contributions to American life through their art.
