Tapeworm can be contracted by both humans and animals, and is not specific to a particular species, region or ethnicity. Tapeworms have three stages of life: the egg, larvae and adult. Humans contract them by eating the raw or undercooked meat of an infected animal or by eating the food prepared by an infected person.

Tapeworm is not a diseas but rather an infaction caused by a long, flat worm that lives in the intestines of animals and humans

What is it?

The most common treatment for tapeworm is called praziquantel, which is taken through the mouth, and it kills/paralyzes the worms so that they cannot attatch to muscle walls and are passed naturally by the body

-50% of tapeworm patients required emergency hospitalization in 2003-12 was the mean age of hospital patients who came in with tapeworm-3 days was the median hospital stay
