The moving circumstances of its commission and the culture and history of an Islamic Mughal empire's rule of large parts of India. Originally built by Emperor Shah Jahan for his wives tomb, the Taj Mahal remains an architectural marvel of the modern world.

It took 22 years for the Taj Mahal to be built. 22,000 laborers and 1,000 elephants were used to move construction along.
