T'ai Chi Ch'uan

It is among the 300 other different style of martial arts practiced in china, there are two types; internal and external. T'ai Chi is an internal system that emphasizes stability with limited jumps and kicks. T'ai Chi has different style or families that derive from it but they are all generally the same. They include Yang, Chen, Wu , Sun, and Woo styles. It was believed that T'ai was developed by a Taoist Priest in China's Wu Dong Mountains mimicing a white crane preying on a snake. Tai Chi was orginally practiced as a fighting form, emphasizing strength, balance, flexibility, and speed. Through time it has evolved into a soft, slow, and gentle form of exercise which can be practiced by people of all ages.
