Syria

Syria, also known as the Syrian Arab Republic, is located in Southwestern Asia, and borders Labanon and the Medditerannian Sea.

Time Line

1516

In the Great Syrian Revolt, Syria revolted against the French who had controlled the region since the end of World War 1. They aimed to get the French to leave the region.

In 1944, Syria was finally recognized as an independant republic on January 1st, causing French trooped to finally evade the area.

In 2011, an uprising occcured in Syria, which was almost like the beginning of a civil war. Civillians called for government reform because they felt as if their rights were being violated. In the beginning, riots were modest, but soon turned violent, injuring thousands.

1961 - Syria finally secceeds from the United Arab Republic, once again naming itself the Syrian Arab Republic.

1958-The United Arab Republic was formed as a political Union between Egypt and Syria

In 1516, the Ottoman empire defeated the Mamlucks at the battle of Marij Dabiq , and Syria became under Ottoman rule.
