Symmetry Symmetry is an exact mathematical "patterned self-similarity" that can be demonstrated with the rules of a formal system. The type of symmetries that are possible for a geometric object depend on the set of geometric transforms available and what object properties should remain unchanged after a transform.
Rotational Symmetry
1) Reflection Symmetry- In one dimension, there is a point of symmetry about which reflection takes place; in two dimensions there is an axis of symmetry, and in three dimensions there is a plane of symmetry. 2) Rotational Symmetry- If an object that looks the same after a certain amount of rotation. 3) Translational Symmetry- Results from moving the object.4) Helical Symmetry- There is a central axis around which a object winds5) Scaled Symmetry- The properties of an object do not change upon change in size6) Fractals-The structure looks same upon magnification
